SKINT

SKINT is a theming layer for Unity editor UI.

It gives your editor windows a consistent, user-customisable look — themed labels, toggles, sliders, fields, popups, panels and progress bars — all driven by a single theme the user edits in a visual designer and saves as named presets.

Write your editor tool once. Let every user make it look how they want.

What SKINT is

An editor-only presentation layer for tools you build inside Unity. If you write EditorWindow code and want it to look deliberate rather than default, SKINT is the layer that does it.

Every widget reads like EditorGUILayout with theming applied, so adopting it is usually a matter of changing the call, not restructuring the window:

CustomGUIElements.ThemedToggle("Enabled", ref _enabled, "Turn the feature on.");
CustomGUIElements.ThemedSlider("Strength", ref _strength, 0f, 1f);

It is not a runtime UI framework. Nothing in SKINT ships in a player build, and that is enforced by an automated check rather than left to convention.

What you get

Themed widgets

Toggles, sliders, int and float fields, text fields, colour fields, vectors, popups, enums, object fields and progress bars. Each takes a label and a ref to your value.

A visual designer

Window ▸ Skint ▸ Theme Designer. Edits apply live and save automatically. 36 colours, 4 font sizes and 4 spacing tokens.

Named presets

Ten ship in the box. Save, load and delete your own, with a restorable trash and an undo that survives a recompile.

Spacing control

Four tokens drive every padding and margin SKINT draws, so a user can make the whole UI tighter or roomier without touching your code.

Window ▸ Skint ▸ Widget Gallery renders every themed control under the live theme, so a theme can be judged against real widgets before you write code against them.

Accessible by default

Meaningful text in every shipped preset meets WCAG AA contrast, enforced across all ten by an automated test.

Requirements

Unity 6000.3 LTS (6.3). Supported by Unity until December 2027.
Dependencies None. SKINT uses only UnityEngine, UnityEditor and the BCL.
Platforms Editor only — Windows, macOS, Linux
Render pipeline Irrelevant. SKINT draws IMGUI editor UI and touches no pipeline.

SKINT makes no network requests, collects no data and contains no telemetry.
