The Two Windows¶
Window ▸ Skint ▸ Theme Designer edit the theme, manage presets
Window ▸ Skint ▸ Widget Gallery see every themed widget under the live theme
Each has a toolbar button that opens the other.
Theme Designer¶
The tool. Everything a user does to a theme happens here.
Edits apply live and save automatically — there is no Apply button, and no way to lose work by closing the window. Saving is coalesced, so dragging a colour does not write a preference once per frame, and the final value of a drag always lands: when the cooldown elapses, before a domain reload, or on editor quit.
The theme is grouped into sections — text and label colours, backgrounds, folder colours, button styling, drag-and-drop, search bar, toolbar, font sizes and spacing. The layout reflows to three, two or one column depending on how wide you make the window, so it is usable docked in a narrow panel.
Preset management sits along the bottom: a dropdown of saved presets, a name field, and Save / Load / Delete / Reset. A status line under the buttons reports what just happened.
It follows the editor skin
Switch Unity between the dark and light skin and SKINT switches theme with it, automatically. The dark and light themes are stored separately, and the preset list changes to match — dark presets under the dark skin, light under light.
Widget Gallery¶
A demonstration, not a tool. It renders every themed widget using the current theme, so you can judge a theme against real controls before writing code against them.
This is the quickest way to catch the thing a colour picker will not tell you: that your disabled text has vanished into the background, or that your search match highlight is invisible against the panel.
Why they are separate¶
They used to be one window, called "Test Window", which is the wrong name for the thing a customer is meant to use every day — and it put a demonstration and the actual product behind the same menu item. Splitting them makes the Theme Designer unambiguously the tool and the Gallery unambiguously a reference.
